Quinoa Grain Royal 500g

This quinoa (pronounced "Keen-wah") is Fair Trade & organic and is imported from the province of Potosi in Bolivia. The Andean grain of Quinoa is easily cultivated in the Andes up to altitudes of about 4,000 meters. Since it is a chenopod, Quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach and tumbleweeds.

Quinoa - A high value nutritional grain

Royal Quinoa is a highly nutritional grain that has been growing in South America for over 5000 years. It has a very high vegetal protein content (12% to 15%), it contains less carbs than most cereals and is a gluten free grain. Quinoa is particularly high in fibre and in non saturated fats; and is an important source of calcium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin E and some of the B complex. The Quinoa grain is not a cereal in the botanical sense of the term. It is a plant related to the weed and from the same family as spinach, which explains why it is a completely gluten free grain. Bolivian Quinoa comes in multiple colours each delivering varying textures; red and black quinoa are rougher skinned, similar to lentils, however white Quinoa grains are crunchier. Combined with rice, royal Quinoa adds a very subtle nut flavor that enhances the taste of gluten free pastas, dry snacks, and other products while reinforcing their nutritional value and protein content.
